Meet Elysa!

I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University (1995) and have been a licensed psychotherapist since 2008, with training in individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I studied at The Ackerman Institute for the Family and The Washington Square Psychoanalytic Institute, where I was a staff therapist for 14 years. I have also worked with couples at Park Avenue Relationship Consultants and as a Reconciliation Therapist for families in high-conflict divorces. As a trained mediator, wife, mother, stepmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, my personal experiences deeply inform my work.

I have been seeing Elysa for five years. When I first started seeing her, Elysa provided a safe space for me to unravel my childhood and family issues, and overtime has helped me understand how both have impacted who I am today.

Over the years she has seen me through so many of life's ups and downs. I find her style to be gentle, understanding, welcoming, completely non- judgmental, and empowering. I typically avoid my feelings, and Elysa has provided a space for me to confront them. She helps me get to the root of my true feelings and validates them.

She offers great book recommendations, and always the perfect quote or metaphor for every situation, many of which have stuck with me for years. I appreciate that she works with many women around my age, 31, who are going through similar situations which helps me feel less alone. I have recommended Elysa to many of my female friends and I definitely recommend her to anyone considering therapy!
